The Playful Explorer Cards were developed in response to the Play Sufficiency study conducted with Child Friendly Leeds that reported that 1 in 4 children from the Leeds neighbourhoods that they worked with described having insufficient opportunities for outdoor play in their neighbourhoods.
The Explorer cards are designed to bring attention to the fact that the restriction of playful neighbourhood spaces is a worrying modern trend in suburban environments across the country. By challenging Leeds residents to explore their own localities using a playful approach, using their senses and looking at the space through a playful lens, the card sets were given out for free alongside pavement chalks and bubbles to residents across all areas of Leeds who signed up play!
